In New York, as in many other states, employers are required to pay their employees for all hours worked, including overtime pay for any hours over 40 hours that were worked in a workweek.
Unfortunately, many employers violate these laws, leaving their employees with unpaid overtime and wage theft. Wage theft is defined as any instance in which an employer fails to pay an employee for all the hours they have worked or fails to pay them the minimum wage required by law.
